Two modular boilers provide hot water heat that is
distributed by circulating pumps to air-handling unit coils
and perimeter fin-pipe radiators. An underfloor air
distribution system delivers tempered air to each
workstation via manually operated floor diffusers.
The atrium/lobby doubles as a passively conditioned
connector and natural stack ventilator. The atrium
setpoint temperature range was expanded to reduce
mechanical HVAC needs. The atrium is heated by exhaust
air and direct solar gain on exposed concrete floors and
walls, supplemented by perimeter radiant hot-water
heaters when needed. |
