| This research facility is as technically sophisticated as any in the United States.
The mechanical systems installed included; - High, medium and low pressure steam and steam condensate returns - Domestic cold and hot water in addition to non potable hot, cold and tempered water - Cast iron waste and vent system and acid resistant waste and vent system - Sewage ejection systems - Hydronic heating and chilled water systems - Stainless steel duct systems - State of the art “Phoenix” hood exhaust, general exhaust, and make-up air systems - Variable speed pumping and air distribution systems - Two chillers, one roof top air cooled and one steam driven absorption chiller - Steam driven converter for heating water - Two steam driven instantaneous hot water heaters - RO/DI System - Compressed air and vacuum systems - Three greenhouses, one of which is nationally certified for Arthropod research The greenhouse environments in this facility are control by a sophisticated computerized control system that includes dedicated air handlers and chiller, a shading system, vent system, unit heaters, exhaust fans and a fogging system. |
